Recognized as Turkey’s first and only international architecture biennale, the International Antalya Architecture Biennale (IABA) is organized biennially by the Antalya Branch of the Chamber of Architects. Aiming to create a platform for discussion, exchange, and production on architecture and the city, the biennale will take place for the fifth time in November 2025.

From Past to Present

The biennale was first launched in 2011 with the theme Intersections, followed by Template (2013), Rethinking the Future (2015), and Continuity (2017). Due to the pandemic, the 2019 edition could not be held, interrupting the regular cycle. The upcoming 2025 edition marks the revival of this important series.

“4.5” and Being In-Between

This year’s theme is “In-Between”. The reference to the biennale as “4.5” symbolizes this transitional period. It reflects on the gray space between before and after the pandemic—a state shaped by permanent changes to daily life. Being “in-between” is not only a condition but also a framework for exploring how we move forward.

The biennale is chaired by Prof. Dr. Celal Abdi Güzer, with Hasan Çerçiler serving as President of the Antalya Chamber of Architects.

Open Call: Participation in the Biennale

The International Antalya Architecture Biennale (IABA 4.5) is not limited to presentations by invited architects. Through an Open Call, it also welcomes contributions from participants across different geographies and disciplines.

This call aims to gather ideas, research, and creative works that enrich the biennale’s theme. It offers participants the opportunity to showcase their projects on an international stage while diversifying perspectives and expanding the platform for dialogue.

Selected projects will be curated as part of the main exhibition, ensuring that the theme “In-Between” is shaped not only by invited voices but also by contributions from the open call.

Biennale Dates: 3 – 9 November 2025, Antalya
