DELULU: The Labyrinth That Transforms Uncertainty into a Spatial Experience

Created as part of Munich Design Week , DELULU transforms the contemporary feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, and detachment from reality into a spatial experience. Designed by Studio Carraldo , the installation takes its name from the word "delulu," which has become increasingly common in internet culture in recent years.

Often used as an abbreviation for "delusional," this term describes a state of daydreaming detached from reality. However, the project treats this concept not merely as ironic internet jargon, but as a creative response to the complexities of contemporary life.
The project proposes a public space for reflection on the confusion and powerlessness created by global crises. Designed with this idea in mind, the labyrinth not only physically guides the visitor but also offers a metaphorical experience of the complex world we live in.

One of the most striking aspects of the installation is its movable walls. This variable structure allows visitors to forge their own paths; finding the exit requires not only following directions but also transforming the space. Thus, the user moves from being a passive visitor to becoming an active part of the experience.
DELULU's spatial language also supports this idea. Constantly shifting perspectives, sudden disorientations, and unexpected encounters create an atmosphere that oscillates between withdrawal and confrontation, control and uncertainty.
Despite this, the project avoids a heavy or dark language. On the contrary, it adopts a playful and open approach. It interprets escape not as a weakness, but as a temporary space for rethinking and searching for direction in a complex world.
In this sense, DELULU stands out not only as a physical installation but also as a participatory public experience reflecting the mood of our time.
